Fauna and flora

Photobucket
           Chandler,Nov.2011

The same day as I photographed sorghum (previous post) receiving water from this canal I was lucky enough to meet a kestrel, the smallest falcon in North America.

Le même jour où j’ai photographié du sorgho (billet précédent) irrigué par ce canal j’ai eu la chance de rencontrer un faucon crécerelle, le plus petit faucon d’Amérique du Nord.

Pretty! I had no idea that was sorghum, I've heard of it but couldn't pick it out if I had to.

Pas sauvage alors, assez sage pour poser pour une photo ! Superbe ! (Tu étais à quelle distance ?)

The kestrel photo is lovely. How close did you get to him? Amazing, and they are so often mistaken for ANY other bird other than what they are!

Quel regard !!!

I must say that I cheated a little bit: a lady from the Audubon Society was on the parking lot with this beautiful kestrel when I was leaving the park so it was easy for me to come close...
