Statement out of clay

Photobucket
          Phoenix, July 2011

This sculpture has a diameter of 11 foot and was inspired by  “the Citadel at Erbil” in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Patricia Sannit explores the layering of time and history through clay.
.

An outside Exhibit!

Phoenix, July 2011

This funny landscaped house in Central Phoenix is hard to miss. Gary Parsel who has been an artist almost forever exhibits his work directly in his front yard.
If you want to be neighbors with Gary there are a few houses on sale on the same street…

A little more on Retha Walden Gambaro: I just wanted to add two full views from the self portrait “Acceptance.”

Marguerite’s comment from the other day: we should be able to move around a statue, to caress it with the eyes, if not with your hands, to feel the volumes, the size, the either warm or cold material and the texture.

And to complete and remain in the same state of mind this one:

Enlacés dans ces bras bien aimés

A perfect example of two different perceptions of the same statue. Here the very harsh sun is not cooperating, even with the polarizer.

Wildflowers seen in a different way

538 1
Phoenix, 2010

Following the view camera experience of a few weeks ago, I went back to the Botanical Garden to experiment with the same instructor, Laszlo Layton, on Van Dyke brown print technique. Fun, fun, fun.
Kind of a similar process as for cyanotype.
First you coat a watercolor paper or another sort of paper with a VanDyke solution (iron + silver) that you let dry in the dark. Then you place the objects, you chose to print, on it, expose the paper to “Arizona light” for a certain amount of time and develop it quite the classic way.
