En regardant vers l’est on aperçoit les Superstition Mountains et à nos pieds de l’herbe voulue ou pas voulue.

Watching flocks of long-billed dowitchers and two Aleutian geese, one of them tagged.

En train de regarder une bande de bécassins à long bec (comme j’aime le nom français) et deux oies aléoutiennes, l’une d’entre elles baguée.

Not too far an avocet feeding in the water.

Un peu plus loin une avocette en train de se nourrir dans l’eau.

It's hard to avoid them, you don't pay attention and suddenly they are right next to you so why not not take advantage by clicking once or twice?
Once Cergie specified that these geese were Anser Cygnoides.

C'est dur de les éviter, vous ne faites pas attention et soudain elles sont à vos pieds, alors on en profite et on clique une ou deux fois.
Dans le passé, Cergie précisa que ces oies étaient des Anser Cygnoides.

The level of water in  the ponds is always changing which makes the place so fascinating.

Le niveau de l'eau dans les bassins change constament ce qui rend l'endroit  fascinant.

The overpopulation of feral cats is an increasing problem at the Preserve.  A rescue team has been named to remove these cats which have been for the most part abandoned here by their owners. Once caught the cats are tried to be placed in adoptive care but we kind of know what that means. There are not too many alternatives before the nesting season which is right now…

La surpopulation des chats sauvages est véritable problème dans cette réserve. Une équipe a été formée pour essayer d’attraper les chats qui sont pour la plupart des chats abandonnés par leur propriétaire. Une fois attrapés les chats sont mis en adoption mais nous savons ce que cela veut dire… Il n’y a pas beaucoup d’alternatives surtout quand la saison de reproduction des oiseaux de rivage a commencé…

Speaking about craziness

L’iPhone 4 went on sale last Thursday morning…
Hundreds of people are lining up, it is 7 in the morning. The store just opened.

L’iPhone 4 a débarqué jeudi dernier…
Des centaines de gens font la queue, il est 7 heures du matin, le magasin vient d’ouvrir.

Many people have been camping since 9pm the day before. A few people sell their spot.

Certains ont campé depuis 21 heures la veille. Quelques-uns vendent leur place.

A pleasant stop, on the way to a restaurant yesterday evening at the San Tan Village mall in Gilbert. The group Shine, a band from Phoenix, was playing contemporary and classic rock.

Sur le chemin du restaurant, un arrêt bien agréable hier soir pour écouter le groupe Shine au Centre Commercial « San Tan Village » de Gilbert. Le groupe vient de Phoenix et joue du rock classique contemporain.

If the colors of autumn don’t reach us here in Chandler, Canadian geese (official name Branda canadensis) know the way and where to hang around to enjoy our winter sunshine.
Let’s not talk here about their number and nuisance though I have plenty of ideas to modestly help with hunger in the world.
For a closer look.

Si les couleurs d’automne ne connaissent pas le chemin de Chandler par contre les oies canadiennes, du nom officiel de Branda canadensis, elles, le connaissent et savent où se poser pour passer de bons moments sous notre soleil d’hiver.
Ne parlons pas du fait qu’elles cassent les pieds de beaucoup et qu’elles sont nombreuses bien que j’ai de bonnes idées pour aider à remédier modestement à la faim dans le monde.

The Riparian Preserve/Institute

The Riparian Preserve is a water recycling facility for Gilbert and was inaugurated in 1999. The wastewater is treated and distributed by pipes into large basins which transfer it to the underground water supply. Then the water is pumped out to support the private homes and businesses’ needs.
This Preserve allows wildlife, plantlife as well as different studies.

Le Riparian Preserve est un centre de reconversion d’eau établi par la ville de Gilbert et inauguré en 1999. L’eau, recyclée, est distribuée grâce à des tuyaux dans des bassins et sert à réapprovisionner la couche d’eau souterraine. L’eau est pompée et redistribuée suivant la demande aux habitations privées et aux commerces à travers Gilbert. Cet espace sert d’habitat aux espèces végétales et animales et également de centre d’étude.

These geese stay with us roughly from October to March before heading back North.
I saw them a few days ago on this blog.

Ces oies restent avec nous approximativement d’octobre à mars avant de s'en retourner vers le nord.
Je les aies vues il y a quelques jours sur ce blog.
