Latin American Culture
Scottsdale, Nov. 2011
A yearly event: the Spanish Market at the Heard Museum where artists from different Hispanic traditions come and exhibit their art.
Coming from Peru, Wilber Huaman Ciprian, carving wooden spoons, was one of them.
Perfect for our salt box.
Parfaite pour notre boîte à sel.

Long ears!
At the "Spanish Market" Heard Museum, Nov. 2011 - Pete Ortega, Santa Fe -
Just an excuse to get back to “Jack Rabbit”
Here are the comments by Vincent for those who want to learn more about the value of having “long ears.”
Found on the web this morning:
Many of these rodents have enormous ears; this characteristic shows that these species, most of them nocturnal, have a tendency to favor the hearing factor. The capillaries in the long ears of Jackrabbits allow to release some of the heat from the blood cooling the body temperature. In addition their improved earing makes it easier for them to contact females and though to reproduce in a dispersed population. Vince.
Vince »

A lot of kids, a lot of fun, a lot of treats and not a single trick.

Halloween Nights
In the neighborhood, Oct.2011
A little bike tour around the block: peeking to the left, peeking to the right. Pedaling further through the next neighborhood, here is what I brought you back from my little tour.

Halloween Nights

I am a bat,
No, not a cat,
I fly during the night,
Because I don't like the light,…

much more than the bats.
But I also love the bats,
much, much more than the rats."

Monsoon
Arizona Center, Phoenix, 2009
Heavy winds, downpours, even hails, lightning and dust storms are a familiar thing once monsoon has started in the Valley… Officially the Monsoon season starts on June 15th to end on September 30th. Personally I would say from July to mid-September but I am not a meteorologist. It is then hard to breathe outside, temperatures being still very high at night.
We have to get used to the above 3 digits numbers, drink plenty of water and have a thought to all those who are impacted by the fires in Eastern Arizona.
